About us |
|
|
|
We are one
of the oldest organic farming project which began in 1990 with a group
of 80 humble farmers together tilling about 100 odd acres in Yavatmal
district of Maharashtra. |

EcoFarms (India) Ltd. was founded in 1995 with a goal to develop and
promote organic methods of sustainable farming. In other words, retain
the goodness of natural products and bring about self-sufficiency
amongst the farmers. The project over the years spread to the neighbouring
districts of Amravati, Jalgaon and Wardha.
Looking at the dedication and commitment towards the promotion of
organic farming, in 2004 the government of Orissa invited the company
to start a similar project in Orissa. Today the project has spread
across the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir and Ganjam.
In both cases, we remained true to our goal and chose to work with
small landholders in underdeveloped and tribal areas in Maharashtra
and Orissa, areas especially challenged geographically e.g. rain-fed
farming.
Today 20,000 growers who in addition to cotton raise 40 different
crops in 60,000 hectares, are part of our ever-growing family.
Yet, in spite of all that it is up against, today in the area of certified
organic cotton, we are rated as one of the largest producer of fiber
output.
Apart from the common cash and food crops, today we market healthy,
ready-to-eat snacks.
Not only that, guided solely, by customers, we have launched 'Earth
Conscious', a brand of organic clothing that includes shirts, undergarments,
baby clothes, bed linen, and the like in its product fold.
